Every pick is labelled by position at the draft (“he went as WR45”) and by where the player actually finished among all NFL players at that position, on half-PPR scoring — the format both leagues used for all ten seasons. 1,734 QB/RB/WR/TE picks are graded; kickers and defenses are excluded. 41 drafted players never recorded a scoring line at all.

Raw swing is not a fair grade on its own: roughly 82 wide receivers get drafted each year but 221 score points, so a pick can only climb to WR1 while falling as far as WR221. League-wide the raw average is -14.6 ranks — that measures the metric, not the manager. Each pick is therefore scored against the median finish of every pick ever made at the same positional slot.

A manager needs at least 10 picks at a position across the decade to be tagged, and their rate is shrunk toward the league rate for that position first — so two lucky tight-end picks don’t make anyone a whisperer. Positional baselines differ: TE beats expectation 51.6% of the time league-wide, QB only 47.6%.
